Movie Night

We had “movie night” Friday night and watched Cars with the boys. I popped some popcorn, one of my favorite snacks, and we watched as a family.

Eli and Noah love the movie, and Simon loves to come up and graze on the popcorn. I think his favorite thing is to be able to stick his hand in the bowl like the rest of us for a fist full of popcorn.

I put Simon to bed and let the “big boys” stay up to finish the movie. Then off to bed they went. We had fun watching as a family, especially since so many times while they are occupied with a movie I will get up and go “get something done.”

After the kids were in bed I sat down in front of the fireplace to put my shoes on (so my hands were free to carry up a basket of clothes) and something was in my shoe. I pulled my foot out of there faster than you can say “shoe.”

The back story here is when I was seven, I had yellow insulated boots, I can still see them in my mind, and I got them out of the closet to put them on so I could go out to play. When I put my foot in I felt something inside, so I took my foot out to see if I had left a sock or something in there and out jumps a mouse. Oh, it was disgusting. I was likely to never be the same. I have other mice stories, but those are for a different post...

So immediately, with bated breath, I turned my shoe over to see what would come out, and it’s about ten pieces of popcorn. Shew!!

I wasn’t watching Simon very closely during the movie obviously. Or else I would have seen that he was hiding the popcorn in my shoe and not eating it.
