Turns out what they really wanted was to ride the Gator. And even though it clearly says, "No riders in dump bed!" Simon was the dump bed passenger. He held on like a champ and did his belly laugh every time they took off because it would make him start to lose his balance.
I ran in to get the camera and when I came back out they had gotten stuck in a puddle. I could see just enough through the trees to know they weren't moving so I hurried because I didn't want Simon to try to get out and fall.
As I round the corner, Noah is running for me and says, "Mom, my shoes are wet!" What he meant was, "My shoes are completely soaked. I hope we have another pair that fits me, because these won't be dry by the morning!"
Next comes Eli carrying Simon. He has Simon under the arms and Simon is hanging straight down with his feet almost dragging the ground. It was a sight to behold.
Apparently, they had gotten stuck and the big boys decided to get out and come and get me. Eli had learned earlier that he wasn't allowed to leave Simon by himself in the Gator so he stepped in the puddle and got Simon out and was carrying him to me. (What a good big brother!)
Now he could have put him down to walk on his own, but I guess once he was carrying him he just kept on. Kind of like when I pick Simon up, he just stays attached to my hip even if he doesn't need to be; I just forget I don't need to have 24 pounds on my left hip.
Eli got back in the gator and gave it some "gas" and I pushed and we got it out of the puddle, and then they were all back at it:
Good times!
