Today is Eli's last day of school! Yay!
It's been a super long year for both he and I and we are glad it's coming to a close. I think me more than him! He doesn't know how hard of a year it's been; he's only in first grade so there's not much of a comparison. I'm looking forward to a kinder, gentler teacher for second grade.
And we are working hard this summer to make sure he's on track for second grade and doesn't get behind. So unfortunately for Eli there's not really going to be a schoolwork break! We're both committed to staying on top of second grade with only A's and B's on his report card. I'm happy this year hasn't broken his spirit and he's ready to try again. Kids are so resiliant, and that's a blessing! (For both schoolwork and my parenting!)
He gets out early today so we're going to wait for Eli to get off the bus and then head out to buy ice cream to celebrate the end of the school year. It's a little tradition we started last year and I fully intend to keep it up for the next, oh, 17 years or so!
Next year I'll have two boys in school. I'm pretty sure that means I'm getting old!

Enjoy the summer! And you are not old yet!!
No I'm not old, but I'm just not quite so young anymore, ya know? I guess that's what the 30's are about :)
I'm pretty sure that two boys in school means that you still have two little ones at home! :)
I like the ice cream idea--I might borrow that one! THANKS!
Congrats, Eli!
