Mama's Boy

Simon is still a Mama's boy, and I savor every minute of it. Well, almost every minute, in an effort to keep this blog honest.

Sunday night we got the boys to bed a little bit late, so on Monday morning I suggested letting the boys sleep and have Tim take them to the daycare. When I take them they eat breakfast there, so they have to get up in time to be there before 8, but since they were going in late Tim would feed them at home.

I didn't see Simon at all that morning before I left for work and he was so excited to see me when I picked him up at the daycare. I could tell he missed me. Then while I was fixing dinner he just wanted me to hold him, so I did, since I missed him too. We both still miss our lunch time bonding when I used to go and nurse him.

Then we had our bible study meeting after dinner so he was with the sitter and the other kids. By the time it was over it was time for bed and Tim put him to bed and he just kept reaching for me, crying.

The next morning when I got him up, he still had his eyes shut, sucking on his pacifier (he mostly only uses it when he is cutting teeth and he's working on three right now), and he just wrapped those chubby little arms around me and hugged and smiled.

As I laid him on the changing table he kept his eyes shut but was very happy (I think it was because it was me getting him ready and he had missed me the previous day). I leaned down to kiss his cheek, in all it's yummy chubbiness, and he wrapped those arms around me again and smiled and cooed.

Does it get any better than that?

No, it doesn't get any better until Heaven. A wonderful memory to remember and read about for years.
