Tales from the Sitter

I got home the other day and the sitter said, "Simon tell Mommy what you did today." I'm hoping for a potty training breakthough.

He looks up from the car he's driving around the playroom and says, "Kittle."

"Yes, you got a skittle, but what did you do that was bad?"

(He gets skittles for peeing in the potty, yes, we bribe our children to potty train them, it's worked for us!)

He wouldn't answer, so she goes on to explain he colored on the white trim in the dining room with a crayon. She made him clean it up all by himself. The other kids left and he was still cleaning, the boys had snack and he was still cleaning, he yawned and said, "Bed!" and he was still cleaning. She said it took him about 45 minutes, but he got it clean all by himself.

I don't think he'll be doing that again! Just like Eli won't be writing on the couch again, cleaning your own messes is a good teacher!

I'd rather have the Kittle, if you ask me! :)

I agree with Deanna! But I have to agree, cleaning up your messes definitely is a great lesson learned...and a very natural consequence.
