The boys went to a birthday party for my cousin’s son. It was a king/knight/castle theme, and by all accounts was very cool. All the boys in attendance got tunics with a family crest, shields with the family crest and personalized swords. (My cousin and his wife are setting the bar pretty high!) My boys like swords, but they aren’t into knights so much as pirates.

The other day I said I wanted them to put on their tunics and hold their shields and swords so I could take a picture. Eli wasn’t very excited about it, which I thought was a little odd since they are playing with the swords and shields most every day.

Then he said, “What are you going to do with it?”

“With what? The picture?”

“Yeah, are you going to show it around?”

“Well, not if you don’t want me to. I’ll just keep it for me.”

“Okay then.”

My full intention was to post it here, but alas, Eli is coming to an age where I have to start asking before I post about him. Embarrassment issues and that kind of thing. Even though it doesn’t seem different to me than the other dress up things they do-Spidy, Superman, Batman, I guess to him it is and that’s what matters. I knew the day would come but I was hoping not so soon. He’s growing up so fast!

Modest is a quality virtue. I just didn't think it would start this early!
