Training Update

I update about my weekend runs on Monday or Tuesday a lot of times. Well, I haven't run in several weeks-Christmas is busy!

Then yesterday Tim went back to work and I got up to get the fires going again-I wanted to get started right away so I put on slippers and a robe. Then back upstairs and got myself and the boys all ready for the day. For some reason I put slippers back on. I almost never do that, and certainly not at the beginning of the day. My feet are always cold and I'm not a barefoot kind of girl.

In the afternoon I got the three littles down for a nap and then I stubbed my little toe on the bed and man did it hurt! It was pretty bad, but I didn't realize it until about half an hour later when Eli and I were reading and it hurt so bad I was almost crying. I limped around the rest of the day asking the boys to help with doing stuff so I wouldn't have to walk so much.

At one point Eli put he arm around me and said, "You're tough Mom." What he meant was, "You're tough Mom so buck up and don't whine about it!" It was too funny.

When Tim got home I showed him my toe and he thought it was quite likely that I have broken it. I just kind of laughed-that would be about right, break a bone that is just going to hurt a lot and there's nothing you can do about it-like my tailbone with Jesse!

However, this morning the swelling is down and it hasn't gotten any more purple than yesterday. And it had gotten pretty purple yesterday! It also doesn't hurt as much but Tim said I shouldn't put any weight on it today, just for good measure. I did stretch and bend it without it hurting like it did yesterday, so maybe it's not broken. But it sure is sore!

All that to say, I'm not going to be running for a little while. Not what I want for the last two months of my training! But it'll be fine. Right?

Ouch! I hope the toe feels better. Hopefully it will heal quickly! Good luck with the final few months of training. It will all be great.

Yikes! That doesn't sound fun. I've done that before, too, and I know how much it hurts! I hope it's feeling better soon.
