Hot

It's hot, have you noticed? We have. We don't have that new fangled air conditioning stuff. Not even the amazing kind that hangs out your window. You'd have to have windows the right shape to fit one of those.

But we do have fans. Lots of fans.

Tim and I have a small osilating fan in our bedroom, but I was sure we had another box fan that we could sit on the radiator in front of the window to draw in some wonderful cool night air. I just couldn't remember where it was I had seen it.

We've moved some things around with people coming and going at our house. We had a house guest for four months and had to rearrange a bedroom. I was thinking the extra fan was in the extra bedroom closet, so I said to Tim, "Hey, I want to get the extra fan and put it up in our window like we did last year. Do you know where it is?"

"No."

"I'm thinking, the extra bedroom closet-will you check?"

Tim came back later with the fan, and we got it plugged in and set up. Jesse walked over to it and said, "Extra fan?"

I thought it was funny that he called it the "extra fan." That was about two weeks ago. Last night he was in my room as I was changing into shorts after work when he walked over to the fan and said, "Turn extra fan on?"

I guess that fan's name is "Extra," who knew?

He might be onto something. How about naming all of your other fans? That could be a fun, family activity. Ned, Oscar, Beatrice, Phyllis--are your fans male or female? If you put two of them next to each other, will they have little baby fans? He, he, he...

It's amazing how much young brains absorb. Sponge alway seems like a great adjective for the boy's brains! It was for Mother's brain when she was growing up.
