As the boys are getting ready for bed Eli wanted to know the quantity of something so I, always wanting him to understand how important knowing his math facts are for daily living, pointed how how he could use multiplication to find the answer. Noah, who was emptying the bathroom trash was apparently listening, because he said, "They should invent multiplication subtraction, like for addition," as he raised his eyebrows and cocked his head, thinking he just came up with a great idea. I love it when he makes that face.
I smiled and said, "They did. It's called division."
He nodded his head, smiled in agreement, and said, "Hmm."
