Snow Fun

Sunday Tim was gone and since it was just me and the boys, I got us all bundled up and we went out to play in the snow. As we were getting ready, Noah kept saying, "Well, Simon is too little to go outside and play." I laughed and said, "No he's not, he can walk and we have a snow suit for him." Downside was I couldn't find the boots that should have fit Simon, but I didn't figure he'd really be in the snow much anyway. We played in the backyard since it was late afternoon and I wanted them in the sunshine as much as possible to help keep them warm.

We had shoveled the back sidewalk so that's where I put Simon down. He loved the snow. He walked down the sidewalk and then sat down and fiddled in the snow, and then tried to eat some. He kept his mittens on, so I was happy about that.

Eli got out his snow shovel and walked out in the deep and shoveled down to the grass. The snow was well over his knees. It was crusty on top so he would almost hold and then fall through, he thought it was hysterical. And was so amazed that he shoveled down to the ground.

Noah tried to walk on the snow but it was clear up his leg when he broke through and he didn't like it that much since he couldn't really lift his legs very well to take another step, so he came back to the side walk and started hollowing out part of the wall of snow for a "rabbit hole." I'm not sure why, our rabbits are long gone.

It wasn't long before Simon was crying, his hands had gotten cold. I made Noah promise to leave his mittens on (he has a horrible habit of taking them off as soon as I'm not looking and then getting his hands way too cold) and Simon and I went inside. Once Simon was out of his snowsuit and eating a snack, he was as happy as a clam.

I stepped out on the back porch several times to see what the "big boys" were doing and at one point I couldn't see them, and I started to freak out, but they were right up next to the house. Eli had gotten the real snow shovel so Noah could have the little one and they were thigh high in snow shoveling away. It was precious. I'm still not sure how Noah was walking around in snow that deep, but I'm sure he did it to keep up with Eli, and probably Eli helped him along.

Then I put water on so they courld have some hot chocolate when they came in and about that time Noah was banging on the door, ready to come in. They had played out there for over 40 minutes, which was great since they hadn't been able to play outside much with the tempature being below zero and all. They took their stuff off and warmed up by the stove and then drank hot chocolate with extra marshmallows.

Other than my initial frustrations trying to get the four of us in snow gear at the same time by myself, it was a really good time. And I'm working on my frustrations, but I'm a work in progress.
