On Friday's if Eli hasn't gotten in trouble all week at school he gets to pick something out of the "treasure box" and it is a highlight, let me tell you. They are just little things, nothing fancy, and a lot of times it's a piece of candy or gum, but it makes him happy. Whatever works for keeping 22 5 year olds under control, bribe them if you have to, I’m certainly not above it!
Friday after school, he dug in his pocket and said, "Mom can I have this? I got it from the treasure box."
I looked in the rear view mirror and he's holding up a little individually wrapped piece of licorice. So I said, "Sure you can have your licorice."
"Do you like licorice?"
"Yeah, I do."
"Well, it's too bad you can't have any."
"Why can't I have any?"
"Because you’re pregnant," he says with a snicker.
"What does that have to do with it?"
"Well, I know the baby can't handle none licorice."
"Oh, the baby can handle it just fine; you just don't want to share!" I'm starting to laugh at this point.
"Well it would be nice."
"What would be nice?"
"It would be nice if I shared."
"Yes it would."
Silence as he eats his licorice.
