These are the everyday stories of my life, which include a wonderful husband and our four sons

Car discussions
A little snippit from our ride home from church on Sunday:
Jesse had a small piece of paper or sticker or something of the like. He it rolled up and stuck it in his mouth. Then he asked me if I would put his window up. He was "cigaretting" and didn't want it to blow out the window.
Tim and I looked at each other and smiled.
Cigaretting indeed.

Regularly scheduled programming
Really, it gets harder to write a "Mommy Blog" as the boys get bigger I think. I don't want to share too much of their lives. But since this is the place that I write down all of the quirky and funny things they say and do, I want to write them all down so I don't forget these days. When I'm old, with a head full of thinned white hair and my memory no longer can recall these everyday stories, I do want to be able to read them, and in my heart remember, and smile, and know that I raised my boys as well as I knew how, loved them as much as I possibly could, taught them as much as my patience could endure. Even if my mind can't remember, I will be able to live the stories as though I do when I read a good book.
For that to happen though, I need to get the stories down now, while they are happening. I plan to go back to my three day a week posting schedule (loose as though it was).
This has been a really fun and crazy summer, so I want to get some of those posts on the blog so we don't forget this summer when Tim was home with the boys. So I'm committing to that over the next two weeks-get some of those fun stories on the blog!
Keep me accountable?
Please?

September
So September was pretty busy. I turned 34, we went to a ton of soccer practices and games, I went out to dinner with one of my best friends from high school, Tim had his friends from high school over for wings and blackjack, the boys got their interim report cards, Jesse broke out the back side window of the suburban, we had one of the first official "talks" with the two older boys (it went well), Noah was sick and missed a day of school, we all got colds with that cold snap we had, Tim made a fire to break the chill since we had all been sniffing around. That kind of stuff, nothing huge, but it sure keeps us busy.
We have tournaments for Eli this weekend; they ended the season 5-5 so it all depends on who they play to see if they advance or not. It would be fun if they did.
Tim is working with his parents to help them get things done to their house before they put it on the market to downsize. Just a lot of little stuff so I'm sure he will be helpful to them. I think he's a good son!
I am working with a company to see if I want to do their bookkeeping for them. It would be some work each month, but I think I could add it in. However I haven't ever done that before so I'd maybe have to start a company to limit our personal liability, we're still trying to figure it all out, but I'm excited about the prospect.
We're all really enjoying life and that makes me happy!

Checking In
Just wanted to check in-I have NOT fallen off the face of the Earth!
September is my busiest month all year, and it got away from me. Figured it was more important to do laundry, get to the grocery, and feed all my boys than it was to sit down and blog. I do have some upcoming pictures of soccer and my sweet boys.
It's been busy and an adjustment with three boys in school now, plus Jesse in preschool. Lots of schedules to manage! I think we're all getting in a groove now, and Simon's soccer is over and only one more game and then tournaments for Eli and then that's done too.
So we are alive and well-look for regular posts to resume momentarily!

Still Here
It's been a good summer so far-can't believe it's almost the middle of July already! I was rocking Simon last night thinking that next summer at this time we'll be gearing him up to start school. I'm not so sure I like that. He needs to just stay home a little longer. I'm sure he won't hear of it though. He was lamenting the fact that he can't read yet. We better get busy with our schooling!

A year later...
I don't get many visitors, but really I started this as a way to journal raising our boys and I'm not sure who all would really think that's interesting! I'm just glad I have all these everyday stories written down somewhere that I can reflect on and maybe one day the boys will think it's cool. Or maybe their wives will. Or not, but I enjoy it and it's good for me so I'm good with that.
Although I would like to know who reads my blog so maybe for my birthday next week everyone could leave me a comment so I know who's reading--and if no one leaves a comment I'll know it's only Jessica reading! But that's fine too, us working mom's of boys have to stick together!

Where have I been?
This week posting will be a little sparse too. We have VBS this week at church. The first night was last night and it went pretty well. The girls in our small group are all doing crafts together as a group so it's fun to be in there with them.
Our sitter's church is having a day camp this week-she's with the pre-school class so she's taking the boys to that all week. So they'll no sooner get home than we'll eat and head out the door to VBS.
I've got crock pot meals planned for all week so I think we'll be okay, and the boys get lunch at the day camp so I don't have to worry about that.
Eli should be okay with no naps, he'll have to give them up soon enough with afternoon kindergarten in the fall. Noah will do okay until tomorrow and then he'll start having a rough time. The sitter's taking a play pen for Simon to take his afternoon naps in. He should do okay if he'll sleep with all the day camp commotion going on, but without a morning nap I think he will.
It's going to be a busy week, but it should be lots of fun.

Blogging Break
We left our house at 5:45 Saturday morning and got back last night at 11:15. It was a week to remember--however the boys probably won't remember their first trip to Walt Disney World, but I have the pictures to prove it!
More posts to come about our adventures at WDW.

Number 100
Like tell 100 things about themselves. I'm not sure I could come up with 100 things, well half-way interesting things, about me.
I'll try five about my odd sleep habits and if you're so inclined you can read it 20 times and that'll be 100. There's your daily dose of math!!
1. I lay down on my right side and get all warm and cozy and 95% asleep and then I roll over to my left side. Every night.
2. If my feet are cold I can't go to sleep, so in the winter I often wear socks.
3. Even in the sticky heat of summer in a second floor bedroom with no air conditioning, I have to cover up with a sheet. I'm creeped out by the thought of some kind of bug crawling on me, and I know they do.
4. I never let any part of my body, hand, arm, foot, knee or whatever hang over the side of the bed. I'm not really scared something will get me, or that there's anything under my bed (other than some friendly dust bunnies), but I think that might be where that one originated.
5. I don't ever have to get up in the night to go to the bathroom, only during the first few weeks after conception and at the very end of a pregnancy. That's how I knew I was pregnant with Simon. I got up to pee at 4 in the morning, and I said to Tim, do you realize what I'm doing? Do you know what this means?!?
I'll finish by saying I have really enjoyed blogging. It's given me the outlet I needed, even though I do edit myself since I know (some) other people read this, but it's been healthy for me. And I'll also say that I'm disappointed in my writing skills, but I guess I just need to keep working on it to get where I would like to be.

Unintentional Break
Eli went to spend some time with Tim’s parents and spiked a fever, over 103 under his arm, but at least he had doting caretakers, I just hope they don't get sick. He didn’t want to come home either--so much for needing Mama when you’re sick.
A trip to the doctor said it must have been the flu. And since the fever had broken, there wasn’t anything to be done. He’s coughing now so we’ve got him on cough medicine just to help keep him comfortable.
Then this morning Noah woke up with a fever. Luckily, my sister doesn’t have class today (she’s in grad school) or work so she’s home with him. After she gets married I’m going to have to ask for more sick days…. Hopefully Noah is better tomorrow, as his fever was only 101.8, so that at least makes me hopeful.
Plus I started working on our taxes this weekend; that’s what ate up all my computer time. It’s such a big job anymore, but for 2007 it’ll be better because I know how I need to have thing organized during the year now so that tax time is easier. This is only my third year of doing them myself.
I’ll post later on what I had wanted to blog about last week. Here’s a teaser: We live in an old house and it has most of the original plumbing, which hasn’t been a problem, but our one working shower had been having problems with constant dripping of hot water…

I'm still here
Tim & I were both running fevers last night; we were like balls of fire. At some point during the night he got within about 4 inches of me and I made him move because he was radiating so much heat and I was too, it was just unbearable.
Tonight we have our small group over to meet so once that's done I'm guessing we will all crash, so look for posts tomorrow.

Well, I've finally joined the world of bloggers!
1. I used to keep a journal, but haven’t really since I got married and wanted to start that up again and this seemed like more fun than writing on paper.
2. I think stories about my kids are hilarious, and I want them documented. I’m not saying I’m the next Erma Bombeck or anything, but these everyday stories are the ones I tend to forget, but are so incredibly funny and they will keep me smiling when I’m old, so I'm puttin' them down.
3. I love to read and have always wanted to write, but am not really very good at it. I thought this would be a way to see if I can work on some writing skills. Be forewarned, punctuation is not my forte!
4. Plus, I feel like if I know I’m going to blog about my day that it will help keep me accountable, and I need that in my life. I’m constantly trying to be a better mom, Christian and wife. I’m definitely a work in progress!
5. Along with working full time, raising our 3 boys, starting a business at home, and running a household (all with my husband of course), I felt like I needed to do something that was just for me, that I find fun and relaxing. Because I don’t count folding clothes, nursing a baby, or doing dishes while watching TV as relaxing.
I will say a little about myself in case you don’t know me well. I’ve been with my husband, Tim, for about 12 years, and married for 7 of those years. We have three beautiful boys! Eli is 4, Noah is 2, and Simon is 7 months. They are the source of my greatest joys and laughter, but also my greatest frustrations. It’s hard to be a mom to these boys and give them what they each need to grow into the men God wants them to be. It would be easier if they all needed the same thing at the same time, but then they wouldn’t be the unique individuals God made them to be, now would they? I’m also not the best housekeeper in the world, but I’m working on that too! I’m getting a little help from Flylady in that area and so far, I’m making progress.
